ü  Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) for the welfare of people affected by mining related operations.

ü  Earthquake of 8.3-magnitude on Richter scale has hit off Chile’s coast in Illapel. Chile is one of the world’s most earthquake prone countries as it lies on so called Pacific Ring of Fire.


ü  Nepal’s Parliament has approved a new constitution after seven years of painstaking efforts and deliberations. It should be noted that this is fifth constitution enacted by Nepal. The previous four constitutions were enacted in 1959, 1962, 1990 and 1999. Chairman of Constituent Assembly was Subash Nemwang.


ü  India and Cambodia have signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to boost bilateral cooperation in the field of Tourism and Mekong Ganga project.
           Mekong Ganga Cooperation comprises six member countries viz. India,                                     Myanmar,Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
                                                                                                                   
ü  Union Cabinet approves additional employment of 50 days over and above 100 days under MGNREGA

ü  Union Government has earmarked over 5,000 crore rupees for the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban  mission to develop 300 clusters over next three years across the country.



ü  The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted in principle approval to 10 entities to set up small finance banks to provide basic banking services to small farmers and micro industries. Small Finance Banks

ü  Godavari River was formally interlinked with the Krishna River at Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.


ü  South Indian Fertilisers to set up Kissan Kendra, agriculture super markets in Kerala

ü  Indian-origin author Sunjeev Sahota has been short-listed for the prestigious 2015 Man Booker Prize for Fiction. Sunjeev Sahota’s novel:  “The Year of the Runaways”.
            Man Booker Prize carries 5000 Pounds. It was first was awarded in 1969.

ü  A 15-year-old Indian-American girl Swetha Prabakaran has been selected by the White House for the prestigious Champions of Change award.

ü  Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been selected for the United Nations Champions of the Earth award.

ü  SBI launch simplyCLICK card. It is the country’s 1st ever credit card that focuses on online shopping across diverse categories. collaboration is with the leading players in the e-commerce industry – Amazon India, BookMyShow, Cleartrip, FabFurnish, Food Panda, LensKart and Ola Cabs

ü  Union Government has banned Naga rebel group National Socialist Council of Nagaland- Khaplang (NSCN-K) for five years. The organisation has been banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
It was founded by Isak Chishi Swu, Thuingaleng Muivah and S.S. Khaplang 

ü  Four new National Institutes of Design located at Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Kurukshetra (Haryana), Jorhat (Assam) and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh)


ü  Capital city of Zhejiang Province Hangzhou in East China has been chosen by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to host the 2022 Asian Games.

ü  Malcolm Turnbull has sworn-in as Australia’s new Prime Minister. He became the 29th Prime Minister of the country


ü  Indian Institute of Science (IISc) (147th), Bangalore and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi (179th) are two India institutes to figure in the top 200 in QS World University Rankings of 2015-16.
            It was the 12th edition QS World University Rankings. Massachusetts Institute of            Technology(1st),Harvard University(2nd), University of Cambridge(3rd) , 



  ü   Manpreet Kaur breaks national shot put record at the 55th National Open Athletics                           Championship at Kolkata.
